2020 ADS Athletes of the Year
Congratulations to the 2020 Acton District School Athletes of the Year - Warren Kammina, Kylie Wenger and Katrina Kamminga! These incredible athletes have made outstanding contributions to our Athletics Program and to our School over the past 4 years. All three have participated in multiple sports during their time at Acton and have been true builders of our Athletics Program. Aside from impressive athletic abilities, these outstanding students exemplify characteristics far more important to the development of strong teams: leadership, accountability, dedication, sportsmanship and selflessness. Thank you Warren, Kylie and Katrina.
Warren participated in the following sports during his time at Acton District School: Volleyball, Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, Badminton, Track and Field. Warren was a star player on the Volleyball, Badminton and Ultimate teams and he represented Acton District High School at OFSAA in Volleyball this school year. Warren was an outstanding leader who was able to use his incredible sense of humour and positive energy to bring teammates together even in difficult times. Warren was especially skilled at being a calming influence, allowing teams to remain focussed on the task at hand and to get past mistakes. He was greatly respected by all teammates and coaches.
Katrina participated in the following sports during her time at Acton District School: Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Track and Field, Ultimate Frisbee. Katrina blossomed as an athlete over her 4 years at Acton and represented the school this year at OFSAA in the sport of Volleyball. Katrina was a star athlete in Volleyball, Basketball and Badminton. Katrina displayed the ability to save her best performances for the largest stages. Katrina demonstrated toughness, resiliency, humility and a great deal of kindness to coaches and teammates. She was always very thankful and appreciative of her opportunities in sport.
Kylie participated in the following sports during her time at Acton District School: Volleyball, Badminton, Ultimate Frisbee, Soccer, Cross Country. A true all-around athlete, Kylie represented Acton District School at OFSAA two times - once in Soccer and once in Volleyball. Kylie displayed all the characteristics a coach looks for: dedication, leadership, accountability, passion and positive attitude. Opposing teams always had to account for and plan for Kylie on the court and on the field of play. Kylie was a selfless athlete who always provided the following answer to coaches, “Whatever is best for the team Coach”.
