The Acton District School Music Department offers lots of opportunities for students to get involved in their school and have fun making music with their peers. Acton HS Music Co-curricular Ensembles

Choir

This group rehearses on Wednesdays from 3:30 - 5:00. All singers are welcome, no experience is needed. We welcome singers of all voice types. In a typical year, students will perform in a winter and spring evening concert, compete in a few festivals and competitions throughout the year, and perform at various academic events.

​Concert Band

This group is for students in all grades and meets Thursdays after school from 3:30-4:45. In a typical year, students will perform in a winter and spring evening concert, compete in a few festivals and competitions throughout the year, and perform at various academic events. Some experience on a concert band instrument is needed, but interested students are encouraged to come and try, even if their experience is limited or their skills are rusty. Note: it is recommended that Grade 9 students wishing to participate in Concert Band be enrolled in Grade 9 Music so that they develop the necessary skills to participate.

Jazz Band

This group meets Mondays after school from 3:30-5:00. Repertoire for this group explores a variety of genres including swing, latin, pop, and funk. In a typical year, students will perform in a winter and spring evening concert, compete in a few festivals and competitions throughout the year, and perform at various academic events. Students need to be experienced players to be part of this ensemble, and Students who participate in this ensemble must also be members of Concert Band. Interested grade 9 students are welcome to audition. Note: it is recommended that Grade 9 students wishing to participate in Jazz Band be enrolled in Grade 9 Music so that they develop the necessary skills to participate.
